Star Wars Celebration

I've been alternating my first week in May activities between Star Wars and the Derby (like my American Girl Hats for the Derby event) and this year was a Star Wars celebration for May the 4th.

There is no shortage of Star Wars party stuff available. I made these cute treat boxes with the printable from Printable Crush (minus the bunny ears!).

Inside were two stickers and a bookmark (all from Oriental Trading), a glow stick with tape to look like a lightsaber, and a badge I made with the library's badge maker.

We also had a few crafts. First was the Chewbacca Paper Bag Puppet:

This fun idea is from A Grande Life, and was the favorite of the evening. Simple and very cute!

I had all the pieces pre-cut and ready to assemble. Some kids modified there's-I had a girl Chewbacca (a girl Wookie, I guess I should say) with a hairbow, and a rainbow polka dot Chewbacca.

We also had Yoda Origami, with instructions from Tom Angleberger (and shared by The Show Me Librarian).

Our third craft was a Design A Droid table, with BB8 and R2D2 templates from The Lego Librarian.

I also purchased from photo props from Oriental Trading and borrowed my boss's kids' lightsabers (alleged "kids") for a photo op station.

I made a "May the Fourth Be With You" bunting with a few characters on it. Here is a printable PDF.

It was hanging over the refreshments area, where we had:

Chips for Princess Lay's

Silver and gold wrapped candy leftover from another librarian's pirate treasure hunt for Jabba's Treasure

And Star Wars cookies, without a clever name. The three other food labels I made can be printed here.

Our last table downstairs had a Star Wars Memory Card game, which was a printable from Childhood 101.

Upstairs were the games. I modified our Skull Krusher game from the Halloween Carnival to make the Sith Lord Eliminator Bean Bag Toss.

Stormtrooper Bowling (I was later corrected to the one-word spelling. Oops.)

I covered our cornhole boards to make them Rebel versus Imperial

Instead of a Death Star pinata, we opted for whacking a Death Star beach ball with pool noodle lightsabers to try to keep it in the air.

And balloons! We also had these cute Yoda/Stormtrooper/Darth Vader balloons that I didn't get a picture of.
