Prime Time Family Reading Time


Prime Time Family Reading Time is a reading, discussion, and storytelling program held at the Pike County Public Library (Lee Avenue) every Thursday March 3-April 7 at 5:00. It includes dinner provided by local restaurants, free books for participants, and door prizes. This free program is for children ages 6-10 and their guardians.


This program was done in partnership with the Kentucky Humanities Council. Books were provided by the Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives and participants could keep a copy of each book we read (a total of 11 books!)

We read and discussed:

  • Ruby Bridges Goes to School by Ruby Bridges

  • Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Biorst

  • Abiyoyo by Pete Seeger

  • Fanny’s Dream by Carolyn Beuchner

  • Hey, Al by Arthur Yorinks

  • The Boy of the Three-Year Nap by Dianne Synder

  • The Monkey and the Crocodile by Paul Galdone
