Harry Caudill, Man of Courage

This virtual presentation by Kentucky Writer & Filmmaker Jerry Deaton was booked through the Kentucky Humanities Speakers Bureau. Deaton’s interest in the issues facing eastern Kentucky moved him to write and produce a film on the author and activist Harry Caudill of Whitesburg, Kentucky. The presentation focused on Mr. Caudill’s life and on his provocative best selling book “Night Comes to the Cumberlands.” Deaton offered his perspectives on the social and environmental messages Mr. Caudill presented more than 50 years ago, messages perhaps as relevant today as then.
