Christmas with the Roosevelts Virtual Presentation

The Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum has a fabulous Distance Learning option on their website where they offer various presentations through Zoom highlighting their collection. It is designed for schools and classrooms, but their Education Specialist was happy to accommodate a public library setting.

We did the Christmas with the Roosevelts presentation, which discussed the customs and traditions followed by the Roosevelt family as they celebrated Christmas. It showcased Roosevelt Christmas cards, FDR’s remarks at national tree lighting, FDR’s documents for sending Christmas trees to Churchill, a clip of Eleanor reading “A Christmas Carol”, pictures of FDR & Eleanor with Santa, and FDR’s Christmas list from the museum and discussed the historical context of the time as well. It was a very well done program, and I would certainly recommend it. It was also free!
