Banned Books Week Movie Night Kits
Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. Typically held during the last week of September, it spotlights current and historical attempts to censor books in libraries and schools. Many books that are considered classics have been banned or challenged—Alice in Wonderland, To Kill a Mockingbird, and The Great Gatsby, to name a few.
The library is celebrating Banned Books Week with Movie Night Kits, featuring a movie adaptation of a banned book as well as the book itself. Choose between a Family or Adult selection, and also receive popcorn and a tub, candy, and a brief explanation of why the book was banned or challenged. Though the food and popcorn tub are yours to keep, the DVD and book require a library card to check out.
