Story Time: "Pizza My Heart" Valentine's Day Party
Instead of reading my usual Valentine's Day-themed books, this year we had a pizza theme! We read Pete's a Pizza by William Steig, Jan Pienkowski's pop up book Pizza!, and "Hi, Pizza Man!" by Virginia Walter and Ponder Goembel.
I found this cute pizza Valentine craft last year at Hobby Lobby, on clearance after the holiday and built the story time around it.
The pizza box could be colored and folded, and the pizza was adhesive foam glitter shapes the kids could assemble as desired.
I took advantage of Pizza Hut's heart shaped pizzas for our party.
This year's Valentine was sunglasses. I printed the valentines from The Charm It Spot on cardstock and added the sunglasses, from Oriental Trading. In the past, for Story Time Valentines I've done bubbles (you blow me away!), Play Doh (I think you are a-doh-able!), and Ring Pops (you are a gem of a friend!).
I also did treat bags. Inside were:
Candy bracelets, foam heart stickers, bubbles, dinosaurs, Fruit by the Foot, and Hershey Kisses. And my affection.
I slapped some hearts on the walls and Valentine's Day tablecloths on the tables.
I played a Valentine's mix for kids on YouTube after we finished our craft and it was pizza time.
