Story Time: Birds

I recently got inspired by a story time resource book, The Sound of Storytime by Tiara V. Dixon and Paula Blough, to implement more instruments in story time. I took some notes, bought some rhythm sticks and bells, and took the plunge.

"Peck, Peck, Peck" by Lucy Cousins works great with the rhythm sticks. I handed them out and let them sound the "peck, peck, peck" on every page as we went through the book.

We also read "Birds" by Kevin Henkes, and did a tree-handprint bird craft from Oriental Trading.
