Summer Reading 2019 Calendar

Our Summer Reading calendars are out. I am digging the space theme. This year we're going from June 17-July 31.

My events include Tie Dye, Outer Space Suncatchers, Galaxy Slime, Alien UFO Craft, and Make Your Own Kaleidoscope.

I also did A Universe of Stories Book Display and rocket ship bulletin board.

Our hired performers include Wump Mucket Puppets (outer space puppet show), Bright Star Touring Theatre (space race play), Family Time Entertainment (Harry Potter magic show), and Silly Safaris (alien animal show).

We're also using Beanstack to log books with this year, which is a first for our library. I started a 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program with it to get a feel for it and kind of give it a trial run, and it's been working great for us.

Also new this year, we're trying a milestone-prize type thing. Using Beanstack to log the books, once kids reach 10 books (or read the equivalent of 10 minutes per day for the course of the program) they get a prize, and so on. Fingers crossed this isn't a disaster.
